No, we do not like the new look. Not because we are used to the original look, but because we all.. that is most of us knew this was coming. Hollywood was so afraid of something saying, “Pantyhose” or “Tights”- so they ‘beefed up’ SuperMan’s uniform to be a far much thicker material (guessing that also helps muscle up the actor) and even changed the texture of it. (Ego forbid people find it alluring!)

This is the same step that Hollywood took with Robin Hood wearing baggy pants (Russell Crowe version), various other Marvel & D.C. hero’s – and of course Halle Berry’s “CatWoman” outfit… in fart-pants. (Yeah that went over really well).

Agreed. The “first” episode in the experiment seemed to be only a teaser, not actually part of it. Which makes me question the timing of Syfy’s press release and Twitter blitz. Maybe they should have waited a week, and let the show catch viewer’s attention before broadcasting it to the world.

This first episode was the teaser to get folks onboard to join in and follow, hence the references in the show to follow Dave & Vince. The “experiment”/storyline proper starts next week. You don’t start something before you invite people, but then the Internets has the patience of ADHD goldfish these days, so go figure…

Film Guru is right on the money for this. I saw this over the weekend with a few people at Motor City Nightmares. None of us understood it. Whatever the intention of the film was, it did not translate onto the screen.

Whoever wrote that Jeffery Dean Morgan should play Roland should b commended. He would b the ideal under the radar choice. Not to mention Bardiem would b compared to the Anton Chigur character good or bad

Keith, you’re right a good story is essential. My biggest beef with remakes has been that they try to use the good stories of the past and pass them off as something new. Yet, in changing a story, they ruin what made it good in the first place (like The Day the Earth Stood Still). I don’t mind a franchise that has interesting characters, as long as they keep telling new, better stories. But I don’t want to see Spider-Man’s origin again so soon.

Personally, I like a good story, and whether it contains all-new characters (“The Matrix”) or old characters revisited (“Dark Knight”, “Lord of the Rings”), a good story is essential.

Most movies that get made, like most art, are junk. That’s just the nature of the beast. (Sturgeon’s Law: 99 percent of everything is crap.)

If writers and directors would concentrate more on story, and (much) less on special-effects and franchises (to wit, Ridley Scott’s “Alien” prequel that morphed into a completely new project) and work to tell good stories instead, the percentage of good movies would surely increase.
