2007 KIFF Kickoff with The Elders

OVERLAND PARK, KS - The 7th annual Kansas International Film Festival kicked off last night with a pre-festival screening and after party. Filmmakers Ben Meade and Mike Adams presented a special screening of their documentary / concert film The Elders: Alive and Live in Ireland.

Filmed on location in Ireland, the movie follows the Kansas City-based band and 150 fans as they tour the Emerald Isle. This isn't just a concert film. In intimate cooperation with the band, the filmmakers allow the audience to experience the tour as one of the fans. The film features interviews with band members, fans, and the director, each relaying their viewpoint of this amazing experience. The music is fantastic, and certain to create fans of people who are new to The Elders' music - a "cross-pollination that is high octane and progressive, yet rooted in tradition." For more information about the band or to buy a DVD of Alive and Live in Ireland, visit their website at: www.eldersmusic.com

The film kicked off with an introduction by Ben Meade. After the film, Meade introduced co-producer Mike Adams and several band members who were in attendance. Audience members were also treated to a guest-appearance by Louis Lombardi (whose film Dough Boys will screen on Saturday night).

The 7th Annual Kansas International Film Festival runs Sept. 14-20 at the Glenwood Arts Theatre in Overland Park. The Glenwood Arts is located at 95th and Metcalf on the east side of the Metcalf South Shopping Center. For more information, visit the festival website at: www.kansasfilm.com
